On 3 March in Chisinau (Moldova), a meeting of the Country Coordinating Mechanism on Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Health.
The event brought together around 50 representatives of government authorities, civil society organizations and communities, as well as international organizations. Participants discussed key issues related to the functioning of the Multisectoral Accountability Framework to End TB (MAF-TB) in the country.
In particular, the following were agreed:
- the role of the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) as the platform for coordination and monitoring of the MAF-TB implementation;
- the inclusion of MAF-TB as an annex to the National TB Program for 2026–2030;
- the integration of MAF-TB indicators into the national monitoring and reporting system.
These steps toward institutionalizing the MAF-TB are intended to further strengthen and expand the multisectoral response to TB with the involvement of all relevant stakeholders in the country.
In addition to issues related to the MAF-TB, participants of the CCM meeting discussed other topical matters. In particular, they approved the work plan for the current year and were introduced to the goals, objectives, and planned activities of the interregional project #CombatDRTB, implemented in the Republic of Moldova by Societatea Moldovei împotriva Tuberculozei (SMIT), with coordination by TBEC and funding from Unitaid.
