The 3-day Regional Civil Society Forum in EECA aimed at building partnerships for a resilient TB response towards the UN High Level Meeting on TB, commenced on May 16 in Dushanbe (Tajikistan).
TBEC Executive Director and member of 2023 TB HLM Affected Communities and Civil Society Coordination Hub Leadership Group Yuliia Kalancha briefed participants on practical advocacy steps for CSOs and TB affected communities in preparation to UNHLM 2023 and post-UNHLM accountability.
Emphasis was placed on civil society’s action plan throughout each stage of the UN HLM on TB, including advocacy efforts with country missions to the UN, relevant government bodies and other stakeholders to incorporate key asks from civil society into the Political Declaration and countries’ positions.
The first day of the event encompassed discussions on the implementation of TB action plan for the WHO European Region 2023–2030, country experiences of NTP collaboration with CSOs and TB affected communities, the report by the Stop TB Partnership “A Deadly Divide 2.0: TB Commitments vs. TB Realities”, updates on the UN HLM Multi Sectoral Hearing, alignment of TB community activities with the high-level meeting on universal health coverage (UHC) and the high-level meeting on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response (PPPR), as well as the use of TB CRG tools and evidence and country experiences.
We wish a productive forum form all the participants and the organisers!
