On 14–15 May 2025, the University of Sorbonne in Paris, France, was hosting the meeting “The role of civil society in addressing the needs of key and vulnerable populations among East-European migrants and refugees across the European region in the context of their access to HIV and TB care”. The event was organized by Cermes3 (Research Center for Medicine, Science, Health, Mental Health and Society, Paris, France) and CEPED (Center for Population and Development, Paris, France).
The event brought together experts from France, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Finland, Ireland, and Belgium. Participants include demographers, sociologists, public health researchers and practitioners, representatives of communities of at-risk and vulnerable groups among Ukrainian refugees, experts from regional and international organizations and UN agencies.
The TB Europe Coalition was represented by Executive Director Yuliia Kalancha, Programme Manager Vlada Rabinova, and Board Member Daniil Kashnitsky (postdoctoral researcher, Cermes3 laboratory, Paris-Cité University, Migration and Health in EECA).
The role of civil society operational research in informing health programs of governments and international organizations to strengthen the response to tuberculosis and HIV among migrants and refugees was discussed on May 15 during a meeting in Paris.
