As a result of technical assistance from the TBEC, preparatory work is being carried out in Kazakhstan to include representatives of civil society and communities in the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM).
To date, an organizing committee and a mandate commission have been established, and presentations on key points have been conducted for members to ensure the transparency of the election process. By early September, candidates will be nominated, and new members from civil society will be elected to represent community interests in the Country Coordinating Mechanism.
The inclusion of CSOs and community representatives in the CCM before the start of national dialogues on preparing the country’s application to the Global Fund will ensure meaningful civil society engagement in the formulation of country’s asks.
