Over 180 Participants Worldwide Joined the #EndTB Webinar “Operationalizing MAF-TB: From planning to progress”

On October 9, 2025, an international webinar was held to discuss the operationalization of the World Health Organization’s Multisectoral Accountability Framework to End TB (MAF-TB).

The event, organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with the TB Europe Coalition (TBEC), brought together over 180 participants from across the globe.

This was the first in a series of three global webinars dedicated to MAF-TB and was attended by representatives of national TB programmes, ministries, civil society organizations, communities, WHO country and regional offices, donors, and other stakeholders from various regions.

Under the moderation of Yuliia Kalancha, TBEC Executive Director, speakers and participants discussed how MAF-TB is being implemented in practice in their countries — turning political commitments into concrete actions aimed at strengthening accountability and accelerating progress in ending TB.

The event was opened with an inspiring welcome address by Dr. Tereza Kasaeva, Director, WHO Department for HIV, TB, Hepatitis and STIs.

Following that, participants explored practical aspects and tools for implementing MAF-TB through the following presentations:

  • ·      Global overview: 10 key steps to implement MAF-TB at the national level – Hannah Monica Dias, Crosscutting Lead - TB & Multisectoral Engagement, WHO Department for HIV, TB, Hepatitis and STIs
  • Building momentum: Pathways for scaling MAF-TB implementation – Aleksandra Vasylenko, Communication Manager/MAF-TB Lead, TB Europe Coalition

A key session of the webinar was a discussion with representatives of Unitaid and the Global Fund on the topic “Donor perspectives on MAF-TB: From “Nice-to-Have” to “Essential” to end TB”, featuring insights from:

  •       Cherise Scott, PhD, MPH, Senior Technical Manager, Strategy Team, Unitaid;
  • Mohammed Yassin, Senior TB Advisor, the Global Fund
