Dear TBEC members,
Following the recent elections to the TBEC Board, one of the newly elected members, Liliana Caraulan, has moved to a position with the Stop TB Partnership and, per their guidelines, had to resign from her role on the Board.
At its recent meeting, the Board reviewed the most effective way to fill this interim vacancy. As per our statutory documents, on this occasion, the Board decided that it is not necessary to hold a full election but that all TBEC members should have an opportunity to suggest candidates to be considered by the Board. It will then be the Board that decides which candidate will be appointed to complete Liliana's term of office for 2,5 years (i.e. Until the next full election which will be due in the first months of 2027).
As this process of appointment is different to a full election, the Board felt it would be helpful for them to use a set of criteria when considering candidates, and these are set out as part of the information below.
TBEC Board members play a pivotal role in overseeing TBEC’s strategic, operational, and financial direction, ensuring civil society’s voice remains central in driving the TB response across the region.
Board members act in a personal capacity in support of TBEC and its Secretariat, not as representatives of their own organisation.
We invite members to nominate themselves or another member for this position, The person appointed will sit as a full Board member up until the next Board election, due in early 2027.
If you wish to nominate someone other than yourself, please first confirm their willingness to serve on the Board.
Here are the requirements:
Nominees must be current individual members of TBEC at the closing date of nominations. Before deciding to stand as a candidate, individuals should consider whether they may frequently be in a conflict of interest.
To be nominated, the applicant must:
To nominate yourself, please provide the information as required at the link
https://forms.gle/w835qTkzxThBPp2X8 It is also possible to nominate others. To do this please, provide their contact details, and we will follow up with them directly for the necessary information.
Thank you for actively participating in TBEC’s governance process. We look forward to your nominations, helping us to continue building a strong and effective Board.
The criteria below will be used by the Board to help ensure that the candidate appointed will effectively support TBEC’s mission, strengthen civil society, and enhance TB response efforts across the WHO Europe region.
