National Partners in Ukraine Discussed the Need to Strengthen Multisectoral Collaboration to End TB

On December 17, a broad multisectoral stakeholders’ meeting was held in Kyiv, Ukraine, focused on strengthening collaboration to end TB.

Representatives of various government ministries and agencies, the WHO Country Office, local authorities, civil society organizations, and TB-affected communities discussed barriers and needs across different sectors in the context of expanding cooperation. They also agreed on the importance of continuing intensive multisectoral dialogue in the coming year.

In particular, national partners plan to work jointly on the development of the next National Strategic Plan, conduct targeted multisectoral consultations on challenging issues and/or areas of potential collaboration, and hold several broad meetings involving decision-makers.

The meeting provided strong momentum for further interaction among the relevant sectors and institutions to strengthen a coordinated response to TB in Ukraine.

The meeting was organized by the National Council on TB and HIV/AIDS (Country Coordinating Mechanism) in partnership with the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the community of people affected by TB, TBPeopleUkraine, with coordination by the TB Europe Coalition within the framework of the #Combat_DRTB project, funded by Unitaid.
