More than 30 European Health CSOs Appeal to the President of the European Commission for the Immediate Adoption of the EU4Health Programme for 2025

The TB Europe Coalition (TBEC), together with more than 30 partners of the EU4Health Civil Society Alliance — a coalition of civil society organizations working in the field of health — has joined an open letter addressed to Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.

Representing citizens, communities, healthcare workers, and key stakeholders, the signatories strongly urge the European Commission to ensure the immediate adoption of the 2025 EU4Health Work Plan and to approve annual funding for civil society in line with the existing Framework Partnership Agreements.

The EU4Health programme, which came into force in March 2021, has become a much-needed and unique opportunity to build stronger, better-resourced, and more resilient health systems. The programme addresses many important issues that strengthen EU health action and represents a key pillar on the path toward building a European Health Union, delivering real benefits to people.

The prolonged delay in providing operational grants to civil society organizations — despite signed Framework Partnership Agreements — risks resulting in the downsizing or closure of CSOs that are crucial for achieving the goals of EU4Health and undermining preparedness for future crises.
