Paul Sommerfeld, Chair of TBEC Board, participated in meetings at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, on February 4–5, 2025. These events aimed to encourage the European Parliament to push the European Union to pay more attention to lung diseases, including tuberculosis.
In addition to thematic sessions, an exhibition dedicated to lung health was held for two days in the main building of the European Parliament. Organized by Lungs Europe, a partnership between the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the European Lung Foundation (ELF), the exhibition invited visitors to undergo spirometry lung health tests. Over the course of two days, 600 people were tested, including 30 Members of the European Parliament. Some of them later joined the MEP European Lung Health Group.
