We are pleased to announce the launch of the 3-year COMBAT DR-TB project, a community-driven initiative aimed at radically transforming the response to drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) in high-burden countries.
The project is funded by Unitaid and will be implemented across six countries — Kenya, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Moldova, Ukraine, and Tajikistan.
📢 At the heart of the project are people living with DR-TB, their rights, and their needs. The initiative focuses on ensuring equitable access to effective treatment, strengthening community engagement, and advancing human rights.
The main focus is on four key pillars:
- Enabling policy ecosystems for access to DR-TB tools,
- Strengthening community advocacy,
- Implementing accountability frameworks,
- Scaling community-driven approaches.
🤝 The project coordination is led by a consortium of organizations: KELIN, the TB Europe Coalition (TBEC), and the O’Neill Institute (Georgetown University).
TBEC coordinates project implementation in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, working closely with national partners:
• Moldova’s National Association of Tuberculosis Patients (SMIT) (Moldova)
• TBPeopleUkraine (Ukraine)
• KNCV Tajikistan and Stop TB Partnership Tajikistan (Tajikistan)
Together, we can amplify community voices and transform the approach to DR-TB treatment!
