TB activists and CSO representatives from across the world met in New York ahead of the UN General Assembly Multilateral Hearing on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). TBEC Program Manager Lesia Tonkonoh represented the WHO European Region in this initiative group.
Under the leadership of the Stop TB Partnership, the initiative group advocated at Hearings for the inclusion of the key asks on TB in the zero draft of the Political Declaration on AMR, as well as informed the representatives of the country missions to the UN on the Key TB Asks which we propose to incorporate into the text of the Political Declaration of the UN HLM on AMR.
In total, during the week, representatives of the Stop TB Partnership and CSOs/communities from different continents held meetings with 22 country missions to introduce them important Key TB Asks!
However, the work with the country missions and national partners does not stop here and advocacy for the inclusion of Key TB Asks in the draft of the Political Declaration on AMR will continue until the UN HLM on AMR scheduled for 26 September 2024.
