High-Level Meeting in Tajikistan Discussed Multisectoral Cooperation for Ending TB

A high-level multisectoral meeting dedicated to the implementation of the Multisectoral Accountability Framework for Ending Tuberculosis (MAF-TB) was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

This information and advocacy event took place on 24 October 2025, organized by the “Stop TB Partnership. Tajikistan” in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Secretariat of the National Coordination Committee on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the Republican Center for Protection of the Population from Tuberculosis, and the Association of Phthisiopulmonologists of Tajikistan.

The meeting brought together about 70 participants, including representatives of the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan, the WHO Country Office, various ministries and state committees, civil society and community organizations, the private sector, international partners, and well-known public figures — TB Prevention Ambassadors.

The main objective of the meeting was to discuss specific indicators for engaging relevant sectors in the national TB response and the need to increase financing for tuberculosis programs.

During the panel discussion, chaired by the Secretariat of the National Coordination Committee on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, representatives of ministries, government agencies, and civil society organizations adopted a Resolution on the Implementation of the Multisectoral Cooperation and Accountability Mechanism for Ending Tuberculosis in the Republic of Tajikistan and agreed to strengthen cooperation in implementing multisectoral initiatives aimed at eliminating TB at both national and global levels.

Summarizing the discussion, participants emphasized that only through concrete practical actions, achievement of target indicators, and increased financial contributions from all relevant ministries, state bodies, and civil society can sustainable progress be achieved in the fight against TB.

The TB Prevention Ambassadors — Habib Hakimov, Noziya Karomatullo, Zaynura Pulotova, Ruzibek Fayzali, Muqimjon Abdufattoev, and Nurullo Abdulloev — highlighted the importance of uniting all segments of society to achieve a world free of tuberculosis.

The meeting was held with technical support from the TB Europe Coalition (TBEC) within the framework of the interregional COMBAT DR-TB project, funded by UNITAID.
