Good practices in implementing key steps of the MAF-TB were discussed by participants of the second Interregional Meeting

The experience of Brazil, Bangladesh and Ukraine in implementing key steps of the Multisectoral Accountability Framework to End TB was discussed by participants of the second Interregional Online Meeting, which took place on October 31, 2024. Participants from different regions also shared their experiences and barriers in implementing the MAF-TB in their countries, asked questions to the speakers and showed great interest in further discussion of the issues of multisectoral partnership.

 

The event, organized by the TB Europe Coalition, the WHO Global TB Programme and the WHO Regional Office for Europe, brought together 130 representatives of NTPs, ministries, civil society organizations, communities, WHO country offices and other stakeholders from around the world.

 

The meeting “Key Practical Steps in Implementing MAF-TB: Global Good Practices” was opened by Dr Askar Yedilbayev, Regional Advisor TB, WHO Regional Office for Europe , and his colleague from the Joint Tuberculosis, HIV and Viral Hepatitis Program, WHO Regional Office for Europe , Dr Sayohat Hasanova, gave a brief visual overview of 10 practical steps for implementing MAF-TB.

During the meeting, participants were introduced to the practical aspects of strengthening the national multisectoral coordination and review mechanism, developing an MAF-TB plan and establishing links with involved sectors and ministries. In particular, they learned in detail about:

Brazil experience in establishing an inter-ministerial committee and linked plan on TB elimination and other socially dangerous diseases with the involvement of parliamentarians (MAF-TB steps 3 - 6)

Experience of Bangladesh in mplementing the MAF-TB Action Plan and expanding engagement of key stakeholders to address the social determinants of TB (MAF-TB Steps 4-7);

Ukraine's experience in launching the Algorithm of MAF-TB implementation at the national level (Across all 10 MAF-TB steps)
