Join the TB Europe Coalition online meeting “Exploring New Opportunities for Civil Society Action” on 4 November 2026, from 13:00 to 14:30 CET.
We will explore opportunities for civil society organisations, community representatives and activists to become more actively involved in applied social science research. Such engagement can help build a robust evidence base and generate evidence for scientific publications on TB and drug-resistant TB, while also opening up new funding opportunities for CSOs and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships with academic institutions.
The event, moderated by
Paul Sommerfeld, Chair of the TBEC Board, will offer an opportunity to discuss
future areas of collaboration, including ways to bring community experience and
expertise into joint initiatives, and to exchange ideas openly with colleagues
from across the region.
The meeting will feature practical insights from TBEC Board and Secretariat members:

The speakers will discuss:
- How to translate community experience into research and build partnerships with academic institutions.
- How applied social science research can strengthen the voice of civil society, support advocacy, contribute to service improvements and open up new funding opportunities.
- Practical approaches to identifying research partners, formulating research questions, defining roles and developing community-driven research initiatives.
The meeting will also explore opportunities for activists and CSO representatives to participate in the Coalition’s strategic governance and play a more active role in shaping regional efforts to end TB and DR-TB. Yuliia Kalancha, TBEC Executive Director, will outline the upcoming TBEC Board elections, including key dates and the main eligibility criteria and requirements for candidates.
Who the meeting is for: activists and representatives of CSOs / communities - TBEC members, as well as a wider range of partners.
