On June 23, a consultative meeting was held in Azerbaijan to identify the priorities of local communities in the fight against tuberculosis as part of the preparation of the country funding request under the Global Fund’s 8th Replenishment Cycle (GC8).
During the meeting, organized by the “Saglamliga Khidmat” Public Union with the support of the TBEC under the GF Community Engagement Strategic Initiative technical assistance, participants discussed the funding request development process and the importance of meaningful engagement of local communities and civil society organizations.
Kakhaber Kepuladze, a technical expert on the Global Fund, joined the meeting online and delivered a presentation on technical support for the GC8 application process. This was followed by a group discussion.
Participants shared their views and recommendations on important topics such as active case finding and early diagnosis, treatment adherence, psychosocial support, human rights, and reducing stigma and discrimination.
