Declaration on TB, the TB Europe Coalition has
released a brochure «UN HLM Political Declaration on TB 2023: analysis of opportunities for CSOs and TB-affected communities engagement in the document implementation and recommendations on application of relevant advocacy tools»
As one of the main international strategic documents regarding TB elimination, the Political Declaration on TB of 2023 is a strong advocacy basis for CSOs and communities working to end TB. Based on its provisions, representatives of civil society and communities affected by TB can both provide justification for their calls to governments to meet their commitments on TB elimination made during the UN HLM on TB and engage in implementation of many paragraphs of the document in a more active and meaningful manner.
This document will help representatives of CSOs and communities choose relevant and effective advocacy tools that have proven themselves in the WHO European Region for active contribution by civil society and affected population to implementation of the provisions of the Political Declaration on TB.
By highlighting the eight paragraphs of the Declaration that list direct calls from the global community to CSOs and TB-affected communities, the TBEC encourages civil society to actively participate in the engagement at all stages — from providing quality services to meaningful involvement in decision making.
Representatives of CSOs and communities can also use the information from this analysis to prove the connection between their planned or current activities and the calls of the Political Declaration on TB, while the broad selection of advocacy tools and links to training resources will help building up the advocacy capacity of civil society and communities.
