Assessment of CSO organisational development on the path from support to sustainability in Azerbaijan, Moldova and Ukraine

As part of Component 2 of the Global Fund Strategic Initiative, civil society organisations working in the field of tuberculosis in Azerbaijan, Moldova and Ukraine have had a unique opportunity to significantly strengthen their organisational capacity. With the support of TB Europe Coalition, the organisations received assistance aimed at developing and implementing internal policies and procedures, improving organisational systems, as well as conducting strategic sessions and other activities contributing to their institutional development.

As the project is coming to an end in late 2026, the partner organisations Saglamliga Khidmat (Azerbaijan), SMIT (Moldova) and TBPeopleUkraine (Ukraine) will soon conduct a final assessment of the results of their organisational development. The aim of this assessment is to determine what results the organisations have achieved as a result of the funding provided and the comprehensive support delivered through the organisational component.

At this stage, a number of significant changes can already be highlighted. In particular, the organisations have developed and implemented the necessary internal policies and procedures, enabling them to meet the requirements of different donors and increasing their opportunities to secure funding not only from the Global Fund but also from other sources.

Organisational development therefore contributes not only to improving the effectiveness and institutional maturity of CSOs and communities, but also to strengthening their long-term sustainability. Having clear internal processes, policies and procedures enhances organisations’ readiness to engage with different donors and provides a stronger foundation for continuing their work in the field of TB after the project comes to an end.

The final assessment is being conducted in two stages and, according to the current plan, will be completed by the end of November 2026.
