As part of the #CombatDRTB project with financial support from Unitaid, in Moldova and Tajikistan work has begun on analyzing key gaps in the drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) care cascade and developing relevant recommendations to improve the delivery of DR-TB services.
Under the coordination of TB Europe Coalition, a methodological framework for conducting this analysis in the two respective countries has already been developed. It includes, in particular:
🔹 Ethical approval from the ethical review board in each country;
🔹 Conducting both qualitative and quantitative research, including the review of legislation and electronic country registries, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with healthcare providers and people affected by DR-TB;
🔹Collecting and documenting best practices that improve access to DR-TB services, as well as systemic, operational, and resource-related barriers hindering access.
It is expected that this research will be carried out in close collaboration with the NTP and community representatives, who will contribute to the assessment of the analysis results and the development of relevant recommendations. The outcomes of this joint work are planned to be widely presented by the end of 2025.
