A meeting of the Eurasian Community for Access to Treatment (ECAT) on expanding access to TB treatment, organized by ITPC EECA together with the TB Europe Coalition was conducted on 22-24 May in Istanbul.
Among the meeting attendees were representatives of the public sector and National TB programs from Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Also the participants of the meeting were representatives of CSOs and the civil society from the EECA region, as well as representatives of WHO and international organizations - Treatment Action Group (TAG), Médecins Sans Frontières/MSF and United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Participants met with pharmaceutical companies TB-Alliance, Viatris and MacLeods to discuss the production and registration of TB drugs, their availability in the EECA region, pricing policy and innovative developments.
Representatives from MSF and TAG talked about global campaigns for access to TB treatment and diagnosis.
