On March 24, #WorldTBDay, a broad multisectoral meeting titled “A Future Free of Tuberculosis: Investing in Ukraine’s Health” was held in Kyiv, Ukraine.
The event was organized by TBPeopleUkraine in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Public Health Center of Ukraine, and the Secretariat of the National Council on TB and HIV/AIDS (Country Coordinating Mechanism), with the support of the TB Europe Coalition within the framework of the #CombatDRTB project funded by Unitaid.
Representatives of various government bodies, civil society organizations and communities, international partners, and other stakeholders joined the meeting both in person and online.
During the presentations and discussions, participants addressed key aspects of the national TB response not only from a medical perspective but also in the context of socio-economic determinants influencing the spread of the disease, particularly in the context of the full-scale war. The dialogue also helped identify priority steps to strengthen multi-sectoral partnership across different sectors and resulted in agreements on the need to continue regular multi-sectoral meetings, including in the process of developing the new operational plan for the implementation of the State Strategy.
The TB Europe Coalition welcomes the openness of national partners to multisectoral dialogue and supports the country’s long-standing efforts to implement a Multisectoral Accountability Framework to End TB.
We believe that through joint efforts, tuberculosis can be defeated!
