How to mobilise political will and resources to strengthen the multisectoral response to end TB was discussed by participants of the final interregional meeting on MAF-TB

The experience of Indonesia, Uganda and Pakistan in mobilizing political will and resources to strengthen a multisectoral response to TB was discussed by participants of the third Interregional Online Meeting on MRM-TB, held on December 11, 2024. Participants also learned about the contribution of UN agencies (IOM and UNHCR) to the MAF-TB and heard recommendations from the WHO Civil Society Task Force on TB on key indicators for developing the MAF-TB based on the WHO Guidelines on Community and Civil Society Engagement to end TB and on the Implementation of the MAF-TB.

We extend our gratitude to Hanna Monica Diaz, Head of Intersectoral Issues, Strategic Leadership, and Engagement of the WHO Global TB Programme, for her inspiring opening remarks, valuable insights, and significant contributions to organizing the entire cycle of meetings on MDM-TB. In her speech, she highlighted the critical importance of multisectoral collaboration in the fight to end TB and acknowledged the efforts of both country-level and international partners.


During the interactive sessions, representatives from various regions shared their experiences and challenges in implementing MAF-TB in their respective countries. They also engaged with the speakers, posing questions and fostering meaningful discussions.

 

The meeting “How to mobilise olitical will and resources to strengthen the multisectoral response to end TB: progressive experiences from countries around the world”, organized by the TB Europe Coalition, the WHO Global TB Programme and the WHO Regional Office for Europe, brought together more than 130 representatives of NTPs, ministries, civil society organizations, communities, WHO country offices and other stakeholders from around the world.
